How Do I Make My Birmingham Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Payments?

For Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases filed in Birmingham, your first full monthly payment is due 20 days after your case is filed. You are responsible for making the payments until you see the payroll deduction coming out of your paycheck. Please keep these payments current as the amount is based upon all payments being fully and timely made.

FIRST:  You can make an “Over-the-Counter” payment (case number required), including cash payments, at any Renasant Bank location. Additionally, Renasant Bank accepts cash advances from debit cards. You should verify in advance that your debit card allows cash advances. Pro Tip: Know your cash advance limit to ensure your payment is not declined. Cash advances from debit cards will require that you present two (2) forms of identifications such as:

1. Driver’s License or State Issued ID; and

Personal checks, cashier’s checks, and money orders are accepted by the Trustee at this mailing address. Cash is not accepted at this address. Please remember to write your full name and case number on the check or money order to receive proper credit for your payment. If a personal check is returned for insufficient funds (NSF), the Trustee will assess a $10.00 returned check charge and this charge will appear on the interim statement for the debtor’s case.

THIRD: You can request that your payment be deducted from your paycheck each pay period. This is called either a wage deduction or income withholding order. Please contact your attorney’s office to put this in place.
