The Anniston Star reported on April 2 that there were fewer foreclosures in Calhoun County in 2014 than the past several years.

According to reports, an estimated 70 homes were foreclosed on in the county from the second until the fourth quarter of 2014. The record reportedly was the least amount of foreclosures since 2009 during the height of nationwide foreclosure crisis. However, foreclosure rates have not yet lowered to pre-recession numbers.

A bank CEO who observed that the housing market continues to improve said selling a foreclosed house to another prospect buyer is not a problem. Wells Fargo’s Hugh Rowden, on the other hand, advised that homeowners who are struggling with their mortgages should notify their lenders immediately. Rowden also said that everyone loses when homeowners face foreclosure procedures.
