A total of $21.8 million will be awarded to Alabama residents as a result of a national foreclosure settlement, Attorney General Luther Strange said on June 6.
Around 15,000 eligible Alabama homeowners will receive settlement checks from the national settlement’s administrator between June 10 and June 17. Consumers receiving the settlement checks are those who had their mortgage serviced by any of the five bank servicers in the agreement, lost their homes to foreclosure between January 2008 and December 2011, and filed a valid claim.
As a result of the settlement, Strange said that six state organizations will also be awarded about $4 million total.
